The ancient Greeks worshipped by placing their hands up to the sky and shouting for the gods to hear them, If they wanted to pray or worship Hades, god of the Underworld, they would often kneel and smack the ground to get the deity's attention. Many Greeks would make the long journey of going to the temples situated all across the empire. Each temple was dedicated to one god or goddess and there were priests and priestesses there to assist with sacrifices and to keep the temple in order. The Greeks were welcome to visit the temple at anytime to pray or worship the god or goddess. Unlike the Romans, the Greeks had no such thing as private gods. Everyone worshipped the same gods and goddesses, which were thought to live on Mount Olympus located in Litchoro, Greece.
